Registration of political party agents
Today, July 31, the Central Election Commission considered registering authorized representatives of political parties (political party agents).
According to the Election Code, a political party nominating its candidates can appoint an agent. This agent is authorized to attend election commission meetings, conduct document submissions, and be present while examining the accuracy of signature sheets and vote counting at a polling station.
The CEC Regulation sets out the procedures for registering political party agents. The head of the highest governing body of the political party appoints its agent within five days of the official announcement of the start of the election campaign and submits the relevant documents for registration to the CEC.
In this regard, the leaders of the political parties operating in our country have appointed their agents and applied to the CEC for their registration, which was carried out for the first time electronically using the “E-saylov” information system.
The meeting considered the documents submitted by the leaders of the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Business People – Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, the “Adolat” Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, the “Milliy Tiklanish” Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan and the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan regarding agents and decided on their registration and the issuance of mandates in the prescribed form.
Registration of agents by the CEC was conducted via the “E-saylov” information system, which automatically issued and sent their electronic registration cards (mandates).
On the same day, the political party agents received blank signature sheets to collect signatures from voters supporting political party participation in the elections.
To participate in the elections and nominate candidates, political parties must have been registered by the Ministry of Justice at least four months before the announcement of the election campaign and collect at least 40,000 signatures supporting their participation. A political party in one administrative-territorial unit (the Republic of Karakalpakstan, a region, city of Tashkent) may collect no more than 8 percent of the signatures from 40,000 voters.
