“Humanitarian Donor Evolution and Importance of Partnerships”

For many years, Azerbaijan was a receiver of foreign assistance. As the years went by, the country went through tremendous changes and improvements on all levels, and today it is their turn, in collaboration with United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), to share their experiences going from an aid-recipient to an emerging donor country. The event will also discuss the role and impact of non-traditional donors in the light of further developing cooperation with the Unied Nations system and establishing partnerships in global humanitarian and development actions.
Among the prestigeous interventants will be Mr. Rashid Khalikov, Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Partnerships with the Middle East and Central Asia and H.E. Mr. Mahmud Mammad-Guliyev, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan.
The interventions will be followed by a multi-stakeholder panel discussions with participation of senior officials from OCHA, the World Heath Organization, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees as well as representatives of the NGO community and individual states. The event will also include the launch of Azerbaijan’s humanitarian aid publication and an exhibition devoted to the humanitarian activities of Azerbaijan.
