Activities within the framework of the CIS Cultural capital 2016 Status launched in Dashoguz

Turkmenistan a second time has the ability, as the cultural capital of the Commonwealth States, to attract the attention of the scientists and intellectuals of the CIS to its ancient history and rich national culture, to demonstrate the latest achievements in the way of progressive development.
In 2012, when Turkmenistan chaired the CIS, Mary was granted this status, where a variety of activities to promote intercultural dialogue in the Commonwealth, to consolidate the fraternal peoples of the bonds of friendship was carryed out with great success. At that time in Ashgabat Council of the CIS Heads of State approved the Regulations on the Interstate program « Cultural capitals of the Commonwealth », which is the one of the key projects of the CIS in the cultural sphere.
The decision to declare Dashoguz as the Cultural capital of the CIS in 2016 was taken by Council of Heads of CIS member states in October 2015. Delegation of this honorary status to the ancient Turkmen cities underlines the value of a thousand years of glorious history of Turkmenistan in the cultural relations of civilizations system for centuries, it is a recognition of achievements of independent neutral Turkmenistan in the strengthening of world peace, the development of humanitarian cooperation, preservation for future generations of priceless historical and cultural heritage.
It is symbolic that the activities planned in Dashoguz, as the cultural capital of the Commonwealth of 2016, are being held in the Year of honoring the heritage, the transformation of the Fatherland declared in Turkmenistan. President of Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the continuity of the best traditions of the national culture. Careful preservation, study and enhancement of the cultural heritage of a nation is a priority of socially-oriented state policy aimed by nation leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the prosperity of the Turkmen society, increase its spiritual and intellectual potential.
As an associate member of the CIS, Turkmenistan actually demonstrates its commitment to an open and equal dialogue in the Commonwealth. Evidence of this and the current celebration in Dashoguz, Leaders and representatives of the CIS Executive Committee, Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of CIS member states, the sphere of culture, journalists, masters of arts and creative teams of the Commonwealth countries arrived to northern region of Turkmenistan to attend the celebration.
